State interference in freedom of assembly of trade unions can take various forms:
- Before meetings or demonstrations, e.g. where permission for them was not given;
- At the time of the meeting or demonstrations, e.g. where the State has intervened either to maintain the peace or to break up an otherwise peaceful meeting.
